Why wear riding socks?
Great question! Rider apparel, especially socks, is specially designed to make your riding lesson comfortable (even if, unfortunately, it can't do anything about stirrupless seat training...).
A long riding sock plays an essential role: it keeps your breeches flat under your boots or half-chaps. Without it, the fabric rides up, bunches, and causes very uncomfortable irritation from repeated friction.
Once in the saddle, your lower leg stays in constant contact with the saddle and the horse's flanks. The sock acts as a textile shield to guarantee pleasant, pain-free horseback riding.
How to put on your riding socks?
Nothing simpler, but technique matters!
- Put on your riding breeches and adjust them smoothly around your ankles.
- Pull on your KozySocks over the bottom of your breeches, pulling them up just below the knee. Make sure there are no wrinkles.
- Slide your foot into your jodhpur boots or riding boots, then zip up your half-chaps.
Thanks to this layering, your breeches stay perfectly in place from grooming to the end of your lesson!

How much do KozySocks riding socks cost?

How to properly care for your riding socks?
Our socks are ultra-durable, but they still appreciate a little gentle care.
They really don't like soaking in water that's too hot! We recommend washing them at no more than 40°C. Otherwise you risk turning them into kids' sizes (though they'd still remain stretchy!).
Likewise, no steam saunas for them! Avoid tumble drying to prevent damaging their precious cotton fibers.
KozySocks prefer air drying. A bit wild like Calypsaussette in the pasture?
When it comes to storage, our riding socks bend (literally!) to your desires: neatly folded, rolled into balls, or tossed freely into an accessory drawer.
What is the best material for riding socks?
There is no single magic material, but rather fibers suited to each specific need. We've chosen several for our socks:
- Combed cotton: Selected for its softness, breathability, and everyday comfort.
- Loop-knit combed cotton: Used for warmth and durability in our winter models.
- Bamboo: Ultra-soft and moisture-wicking to keep feet dry.
- Nylon/Polyamide: Used on the shaft of our technical socks to ensure thinness inside riding boots.
- Wool: The queen of natural fibers for tackling winter riding sessions! Wool provides exceptional thermal regulation, keeps your feet cozy even when damp, while letting them breathe.
We love mixing materials (and colors—anything goes in Kozyworld!): for instance, our technical socks feature a nylon leg (for your calves) and a combed cotton foot. This allows them to stay thin while standing up to all your trips back and forth to the tack room.
